Trenca Scores Ninth-Place Result at Land of Legends Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – VERNON, N.Y. (June 26, 2019) – Joe Trenca highlighted last weekend with a top-10 performance at Land of Legends Raceway.

The Mucci Motorsports driver advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race before he capped Saturday night with a ninth-place result in the feature. The outing at the oval in Canandaigua, N.Y., marked his sixth top 10 of the season and keeps him ranked second in the Patriot Sprint Tour championship standings.

“We tried something Saturday night a little different than we normally do in the heat race,” he said. “It wasn’t that great so we went back to what we normally do for the feature. I got up to sixth and got put into the wall passing for fifth. It was a racing deal and wasn’t anyone’s fault. I stuck my nose in there at the last second. We fell to 13th or 14th and got back to ninth by the end of the race.”

The weekend concluded on Sunday at Utica-Rome Speedway, which hosted the Cole Cup featuring the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints. Trenca timed in fourth quickest in his group and he placed second in a heat race. He lined up on the outside of the front row for the 50-lap main event.

“It was a 50-lapper with 25-lap increments and a pit stop,” he said. “That was kind of cool. We tried something for the first 25 laps and we fell to fifth or sixth. There was a big shakeup on a restart just after midway. I hopped a guy’s right rear and fell to 12th. We made our way back up a bit. Then we put a slide job on a guy for ninth with about three laps to go, but I slid off the track and fell to 16th. There was a lot of action that night.”

Trenca ended with a 16th-place run.

He is slated to take this weekend off before resuming action on July 4 at Land of Legends Raceway with the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints.
