Inside Line Promotions – WOODHULL, N.Y. (July 17, 2019) – Joe Trenca scored his fourth top-five finish of the season last Saturday at Woodhull Raceway.

The night began with a run from seventh to third place during a Patriot Sprint Tour heat race for the Mucci Motorsports driver.

“We had a good heat race,” he said. “We passed all the cars on the start. By the second lap we were in third.”

The strong run earned Trenca a spot into the feature redraw. Unfortunately, he pulled the highest number – eight – to line up on the outside of the fourth row for the A Main.

“In the feature I didn’t think we’d be able to move forward,” he said. “We had a restart with six to go and we were still in eighth. We blasted our way around the top. I knew I needed to make something happen to get to fifth and we were able to gain several positions.”

The move led Trenca to a fifth-place finish. He remains second in the Patriot Sprint Tour championship standings.

While the weekend ended on a positive note, it had a frustrating beginning. Trenca competed with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions on Friday at Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, N.Y.

“We broke a rear end in hot laps, which messed up a lot of other things on the car,” he said. “We got it changed just in time for the heat race. We only made two laps and pulled in.”

Trenca then placed fifth in the B Main to transfer into the 23rd starting position in the main event.

“We made our way to 14th and lost brakes,” he said. “It was a rough night.”

Trenca was credited with an 18th-place result.

The team has a busy four-race slate coming up with races on Saturday at Brockville Ontario Speedway in Brockville, Ontario, Canada; on Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway in Long Sault, Ontario, Canada; and on Monday and Tuesday at Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada, with the Patriot Sprint Tour.
